Important Adaptive Learning Change!

Dear Parents/Guardians:
We appreciate your efforts as we’ve navigated the challenge of COVID-19. We recognize the difficulties the pandemic has created for students, families, staff, and the community.
Through this experience, we have all learned a great deal about teaching and learning in different platforms. As Converse County School District #1 has reflected on our experience from the first semester, we understand that changes are necessary to ensure a high level of learning for all.
In-person, on-campus students will continue learning in the same format as first semester. If a student is quarantined or we experience a school closure, we will deliver teaching and learning remotely through our Canvas platform.
We’ve learned that off-site learning requires additional structure to be successful. Virtual learning requires a great deal of discipline, self-motivation, and commitment. CCSD #1 is dedicated to ensuring our students receive the best education possible, and that they are #LifeReady. Therefore, we are making a significant change for students who will be full-time virtual students--in other words, receiving all or part of their instruction in the home environment as a primary, regular means of delivery. Beginning January 5, 2021, the adaptive learning option will be replaced with Classroom-based Virtual Education. An application must be submitted, and student must be accepted to participate in Classroom-based Virtual Education.
Approval for the Classroom-based Virtual Education option will be based on established criteria and expectations--to ensure academic excellence. Further, continued participation in Classroom-based Virtual Education will be dependent on the student maintaining an adequate performance level. Details are denoted in the application.
The official application for Classroom-based Virtual Education must be submitted during the designated window (December 7-11, 2020) to be considered. The application is attached, available on our website (, or may be picked up at our Central Administration building (615 Hamilton Street). Return your application to me at Central Administration before 12:00pm on December 11th.
Thank you for helping us achieve excellence for our students. Your efforts to ensure your child receives a quality education are appreciated!
