Dear DPS families and community,
This is a friendly reminder that starting next Monday, December 8, we will begin our trial run of the new parent drop-off and pick-up loop at the back of Douglas Primary School. This change is designed to improve student safety, allow emergency vehicles easier access to our campus, and reduce traffic congestion for our neighbors on Birch Street.
Morning Drop-Off (Back of DPS via Logsdon Lane)
Please take Cheyenne Street to Logsdon Lane and follow the road to the back of the school (behind the outfield of Nida Field).
At the end of the road, the loop will look and feel very similar to our current front loop.
A crossing guard will be stationed near the batting cages. Please stop and wait until the crossing guard signals for you to move forward into a cone space.
We will still use six construction cones for parking; the crossing guard will assign you a cone number to pull into.
Front Loop Access
During morning drop-off, the front loop will be closed.
If you arrive after 7:58 AM, please return to the front of the building to drop off your student once the back loop has closed.
Afternoon Pick-Up
Afternoon pick-up will follow the same loop procedures in the new back loop.
The barricades will open at 2:45 PM to begin the pick-up process.
Families Who Walk to Pick Up Students
Families who currently walk to the front office to pick up their children may continue to do so. This option is not changing.
Please continue to follow the usual check-out process inside the front office.
For families needing early pick-up, please note that the front loop will be chained off during regular drop-off and pick-up windows; if you need access during those times, call the DPS office at (307) 358-3502 for assistance.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to keep our students safe and improve traffic flow around DPS. We appreciate your patience as we try this new system and will keep you updated throughout the trial period.
With appreciation,
Scott Rickabaugh
Principal, Douglas Primary School

DPS is transitioning to a new phone service this morning. During the switch, we may be unable to receive phone calls from approximately 9:30–9:50 AM.
If you need immediate assistance during that time, please call 358-2942.
Thank you for your patience as we make this upgrade! ❤️🐾💙
We wanted to make you aware of a brief situation that occurred at DPS this afternoon.
A small gas leak was identified outside of the building, and out of an abundance of caution, we evacuated the building while the issue was assessed.
Because of the timing, this only impacted students who ride Round 2 buses. All students were safe and supervised by DPS staff throughout the entire situation and were able to spend a little extra time enjoying our playground while we waited for the all-clear.
The issue has been resolved, and there is no ongoing concern. School will operate as normal tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.
Thank you,
Scott Rickabaugh
Principal, Douglas Primary School
Thank you for your patience and understanding during the outage. We appreciate your flexibility while our service provider worked to resolve the issue.

Starting today, Monday, August 24, our parent drop-off area on Logsdon Lane will close promptly at 7:53 a.m. each morning.
This allows our amazing DPS staff to transition from morning drop-off duties, be with students, and be ready to start the day right when school begins at 7:55 a.m.
If you arrive after 7:53, no worries at all! Please bring your child to the main office entrance, and we will make sure they get where they need to go.
For everyone's safety, please do not drop your child off unless an adult staff member is present and providing supervision.
Thank you for helping us keep mornings safe, smooth, and focused on a great start for our Bearpaws! 🐾❤️💙
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We would like to provide an update regarding the ongoing phone outage affecting our school buildings.
Our phone service provider has informed us that they are currently experiencing service issues that are impacting phone systems throughout our area. Their technical teams are actively working to identify and resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
The provider has advised us that they will notify the District as soon as service has been restored. Until that time, our schools will continue to experience phone service disruptions.
If you need to contact a school, please continue to call the Central Office at 307-358-2942, and our staff will relay your message to the appropriate school or department.
We understand the inconvenience this situation may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding while our provider works to restore service.
Thank you,
Converse1Schools
We are currently experiencing a phone outage affecting our school buildings. Please know that we are actively working to restore service as soon as possible.
Until the issue is resolved, please call the Central Office at 307-358-2942 for any school-related needs. Our staff will make sure your message reaches the appropriate school or department.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work through this unexpected disruption. We will provide updates as soon as service is restored.

Converse 1 Schools
DPS Families, we've sent all transportation/bus tags home in your child’s backpack.
Please make sure your child has ONLY ONE tag on their backpack each day. The tag tells our staff exactly what your child is doing after school that day, so having only the correct tag visible helps us make dismissal as safe, organized, and smooth as possible.
⏰ Also, a reminder that tomorrow is Friday!
Friday dismissal is at 12:50 PM, not our regular 2:50 PM dismissal time.
Thank you for helping us keep dismissal running smoothly and making sure every Bearpaw gets where they need to go! ❤️💙🐾
We are excited to welcome our Bearpaws back to school! ❤️💙
Join us tonight for Open House from 4:00–5:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, visit the classroom, see the school, and help your child feel ready and excited for the first day!
