We are getting excited for some SPOOKTACULAR Halloween fun at DPS! Our little Bearpaws will enjoy a day filled with a costume parade, crafts, and trick-or-treat stations! 🍬🎨
As we prepare for the festivities, we want to share a few important reminders with our families:
🎃 Costumes: Students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to school! Please make sure costumes are safe, comfortable, and easy to walk in.
👕 Clothing: Students must wear regular clothes underneath their costumes. We will still be going outside for recess, so please send your child with appropriate outdoor shoes and a coat!
🚫 Costume Guidelines:
No costume masks or excessive/gory face paint.
No pretend weapons (swords, knives, guns, etc.).
Inflatable costumes are welcome but may ONLY be inflated during the costume parade.

UPDATE - At 10:21 am, the Secure Protocol has ended at Douglas High School and Douglas Primary Schools. The schools have returned to normal operations.
At 10:04 AM, Douglas High School and Douglas Primary School has been notified of suspicious activity reported in the nearby area. As a precaution, we have placed the schools in Secure. During the Secure Action, all doors are locked and no one can leave or enter the building.
The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as appropriate.

We are excited to begin welcoming parents and guardians to join their child for lunch at Douglas Primary School!
Parent Lunches will begin Monday, September 14th, and will be available Monday through Thursday during your child’s regularly scheduled lunch time.
Lunch Times
Kindergarten: 11:30–11:50 AM
1st Grade: 11:40 AM–12:00 PM
Because of the limited space available in our gym, we will have a limited number of parent lunch spots available each day:
4 Kindergarten students, with 1 parent/guardian each
4 First Grade students, with 1 parent/guardian each
How to Reserve a Lunch Spot
Parents/guardians must call the DPS Main Office to reserve a spot and receive confirmation that space is available.
Make reservations no later than 3:00 PM on the school day before your requested lunch visit. Same-day reservations will not be available.
You are welcome to plan ahead! For example, you may call on Friday to reserve a spot for the following Thursday.
A Few Important Reminders:
Parents/guardians must check in through the Raptor visitor management system in the DPS Main Office before the start of their child’s lunchtime.
A photo ID is required to complete the Raptor check-in process.
Lunch visits are limited to one parent/guardian per student per visit.
Families may participate in multiple Parent Lunches throughout the school year, and different parents/guardians may attend on different visits.
Parents/guardians may bring lunch for themselves and their child only. Please do not bring food or lunch for other students.
School lunches will not be available for parents/guardians or other family members to purchase. Families attending Parent Lunches should plan to bring their own lunch.

At approximately 9:05 AM, Douglas Primary School and Douglas High School went into "Secure" as a precautionary measure due to suspicious activity near school grounds. Both campuses continue to practice the Secure protocol.

A small gas leak was identified outside of the building, and out of an abundance of caution, we evacuated the building while the issue was assessed.
Because of the timing, this only impacted students who ride Round 2 buses. All students were safe and supervised by DPS staff throughout the entire situation and were able to spend a little extra time enjoying our playground while we waited for the all-clear.
